STORYTELLER AUDITIONS
We are looking for artists who identify as having a disability to share stories that invite us into their intimate inner worlds. You can talk about a life experience you’ve had, a desire you fantasize about, hopes and fears that you live with, or something else. You don’t need to have a partner or have had sex to have a love story.
We are holding auditions for storytellers on Wednesday March 19. We will eventually select 4-7 artists to be storytellers in our upcoming show, The Bosch Pit. We want to feature love stories that are unique and unexpected, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box. The wilder the better! Sad stories, angry stories, and of course, sexy stories are always welcome. We are only considering artists who identify as having a disability for this role.
These stories will be the heart of the show. They will be adapted and performed with puppets in the final production in May 2024 for a large live audience. So make sure you are comfortable sharing this story with a big group of people. We are also looking for some storytellers to perform their stories live during the show, and we will work together to prepare for the big day.
If you know people in your community, work circle, or personal life who might be a good fit for this project, please spread the word. This was a transformative, ecstatic experience for the artists involved in our 2024 show, That Paradise Place, and we are thrilled to invite more and more artists to experience the magic.
The audition will be very casual and fun; we will ask you about your story and you can also show us some of your artwork if you like. Email thatparadiseplace@gmail.com to sign up! We will send you a time slot, location, and details. If you have particular wants or needs that would make the audition more accessible or comfortable for you, we want to know! And if you want to audition but cannot come in person on March 19, let us know and we will try to find another time or meet on Zoom.
